Chiang Mai Trekking

Chiang Mai Trekking has been one of the main tourist activities in Northern Thailand over the past 30 years.  Traditionally Chiang Mai has been the centre of trekking. Most trekking companies are based in Chiang Mai.

A standard Chiang Mai trekking usually includes an overnight in a tribal village, elephant riding and bamboo rafting. There are a limited number of places where all these activities can be combined and these places usually attract quite a few visitors.

Programs vary from day treks without overnight to multiple day tours, up to six days. Our longest trekking program is a 6 day trekking in the Viang Pa Paoarea.

If you don’t insist on elephant riding and bamboo rafting there are a lot of very interesting areas where very few tourist go.

It is rewarding to travel to areas such as Viang Pa Pao, Mae Sariang, Doi Inthanon and Mae Fah Luang district (Chiang Rai) to go on a trek. No elephants and limited options for rafting but the villages in these areas see relatively few foreigners.

Tiger Trail offers you a lot of trekking options out of Chiang Mai but also in other areas in Northern Thailand.
