Kaeng Krachan Birding & Wildlife

Kaeng Krachan is Thailand's biggest national park covering over 8 million acres. It’s regarded as one of Thailand's most important remaining wildlife habitats, and it's an absolute paradise for birdwatchers and wildlife spotters. With well over 400 bird species, the park is home to five species of the hornbill: the great, pied, brown, wreathed and plain poached. At the higher elevations of the park other rare birds make their appearance include the long-tailed broadbill and the ratchet-tailed treepie. This is the only place in Thailand that this last one, the treepie, can be spotted. Wildlife sighting opportunities include gibbons and elephants. The park is also home to tigers, two species of bears, and leopards. However, these magnificent creatures are less likely to be spotted.
