Activities: Every year on the first weekend of February, the Chiang Mai Flower Festival exhibitions open. Parades, contests and the Miss Chiang Mai Flower Festival competition take place over several days.

Chiang Mai Province, together with Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organization and Samoeng District jointly organize the “Strawberry & Samoeng Festival” at Samoeng District. The opening ceremony will start with strawberry’s parade and local performances.
Activities: The Poy Sang Long ceremony is a Buddhist novice ordination ceremony. Young boys aged between 7 and 14 are ordained as novices so they can spend time studying Buddhist doctrines. It is believed that by pursuing ordination for their parents, they gain merit. Mae Hong Son is famous for its Poy Sang Long ceremony but it can be observed in Chiang Mai as well, on a smaller scale.
Activities: Each year the Loi Krathong festival features activities at various venues throughout the city such boat races on the Mae Ping River, Yipeng lantern procession and contest, Beauty contest, and Krathong parades and contests.
Program:
The dates of Loy Khrathong always cause plenty of confusion. They change every year depending on the full moon. Loy Khrathong is not an official public holiday in Thailand.
Location: Tudongkhasathan Lanna in Sansai District
This event takes place a couple of days before Loy Khrathong. Location is the Tudongkhasathan Lanna in Sansai District, about 13 kilometers from Chiang Mai. It is behind Mae Jo University.
Activities: Borsang village displays traditional village life and parades. Visitors are welcome to participate in handicrafts competitions set up to promote Borsang village handicrafts.
