Khao Yai Birding & Wildlife
Khao Yai National Park is Thailand’s most famous national park. Located a mere 3-hour ride northeast of Bangkok, it consists of moist evergreen forest, mixed deciduous forest, and dry evergreen forest. With over 2,500 plant species, 350 bird species and numerous large mammals like gibbons, pig-tailed macaque, and samba deer, barking deer, great hornbills, elephants, civets, gaur and more. The birds that can be spotted here include four species of hornbills (Brown, Wreathed, Pied, Great), chestnut-capped Babbler, coral-billed ground cuckoo, and the Siamese Fireback, just to mention a few.
