Early departure from the hotel. The focus of today's tour will be the Hmong tribe. Hmong can be found in Thailand, Laos and Vietnam and are originally from Southern China. Today you will learn about their history, their customs and traditions and about their current way of life. We will drive to Ban Mae Sa Mai, the largest Hmong community in Northern Thailand. We will visit the small Hmong museum and have a local snack before embarking on a beautiful three hour trek on a nature trail on the slopes of Doi Suthep. A local Hmong guide who will explain about the lush vegetation will accompany us. We will pass huge wild banana trees and witness a natural water source. Now and then we will enjoy the magnificent views through the thick foliage. The trek will be done at a leisurely pace. There will be enough time for making photographs and enjoying the natural environment. After the trek we will descend back into the Mae Sa Valley. We will visit a Royal Project in the Hmong village Nong Hai. Your guide will explain about the royal project. We will make a walk through a couple of villages and meet some of the villagers. We will learn about Hmong musical tradition and their ceremonies.

Drive back to Chiang Mai.

Description: 

Early departure from the hotel. We will drive to Ban Mae Sa Mai, the largest Hmong community in Northern Thailand. We will visit the small Hmong museum. You will learn about Hmong musical tradition and their ceremonies. and have a local snack before embarking on a beautiful three hour trek on a nature trail on the slopes of Doi Suthep. A local Hmong guide who will explain about the lush vegetation will accompany us. We will pass huge wild banana trees and witness a natural water source. Now and then we will enjoy the magnificent views through the thick foliage. The trek will be done at a leisurely pace. There will be enough time for making photographs and enjoying the natural environment.

After the trek we will descend back into the Mae Sa Valley. We will visit a Royal Project in the Hmong village Nong Hoi. Your guide will explain about the royal project. The Nong Hoi Royal Project Development Centre was established in 1986. Today, it is one of the largest producers of vegetables for the Royal Project marketing division, as well as a research centre for herb and vegetable production.

In addition to vegetables and herbs, the project also has plantations of plums, grapes, strawberries and cab gooseberries as well as herbs such as rosemary, mint, lemon balm and chamomile. It is also famous for its hydroponic vegetable such as red oak leaves, Doi Kham tomatoes and vegetables for salad. We will make a walk through a couple of villages and meet some of the villagers. 

Drive back to Chiang Mai.
