Description:
You will be picked up from the hotel at 0800. We transfer you to Ban Khanomtom in Saraphi, a district about 12 kms outside of Chiang Mai. Here your bikes will be waiting for you. While you enjoy a refreshment we will brief you on the upcoming tour. Then it’s time to start cycling.
The area we will pass through today is a very fertile area due to the proximity of the river. Virtually everything grows here. We will see lots of fruit trees and taste some of the fruit in season. Dominant in this area are Longan plantations, in Thai called Lamyai. We will cycle through endless plantations. Your guide will explain about the many sorts of fruit that grow around here. We will stop several times along the way to meet local people. We will stop at local temples and markets. Before noon we will reach Lamphun, the former capital of the Haripunchai kingdom. Here we will stop at Ku Chang, the burial site of Queen Chamathewi’s favorite war elephant. Next stop will be an interesting textile museum. We will have a wonderful Khao Soi lunch opposite the museum before continuing to Wat Pra That Haripunchai, Lamphun’s most famous temple. After this we will continue to the Doll Museum in San Patong, a seldom visited but excellent museum. During weekdays you can see how the most exquisite decorative dolls are being handmade here.
From here we make our way back to Saraphi. We cycle through extensive ricefields until we meet the Ping River.Via a different route we cycle back to Ban Khanomtom where you can enjoy a refreshment and sit down for a moment before our car transfers you back to your hotel in Chiang Mai.
