TTKY01 - Hiking tour Khao Yai National Park Tour – 3 days
This 3 days trip design for adventurous travelers who want to spend some time in the real jungle. You will be trekking in remote jungle in the west of the Khao Yai National Park, sleeping in a hammock and cooking your food over an open fire. The trip is for people with moderate to good fitness levels and involves several hours trekking with some steep inclines. It also involves crossing rivers- so be prepared to get your feet wet!
Our excellent guides will take you along to the best parts of the park and help you to spot some truly fascinating wildlife. You will have to share and carry all equipment with the guide, no porters with the group. We will set out to explore this dramatic, wilderness that is considered one of the most important natural areas in all of Thailand. A personal and professional naturalist guide is going to join you all the time.
Bird and Wildlife Watching, Khao Yai National Park, Hiking
Your driver will meet you at the hotel at 6 AM. **This will be driver only. You will meet your guide upon arrival in Khao Yai.**Drive to Khao Yai National Park, Thailand's first and most famous national park. It is the habitat of a variety of wildlife including elephants, tigers, gibbons, deer, and wild pigs. This drive will take approximately three hours. After a short familiarization with your naturalist guide we will drive to the western part of Khao Yai National park where we start hiking. You will trek through secondary forest and ascend the mountain through deciduous/moist evergreen forest. This is a steep uphill climb leading into deep jungle until we reach the top of the mountain with good views of surrounding park. Then, enter the jungle where animal tracks become evident. Here, if tracks are seen, we will spend sometime following them to see where they lead (possibility of elephant/Gaur).Arrive at Klong Gating (Gaur stream) a small but charming waterfall where we break for lunch and relaxation.Continue through jungle along the ridge of the mountain where you can feel the evergreen forest surrounding you. We arrive at the site for our first night’s camp, a waterfall with pool for swimming and relaxation, at about 3 PM.Make camping deep in the forest with hammocks. Your guide will make a campfire and prepare dinner.After an active day’s trekking it’s time to relax and enjoy the sounds and experience of the remote jungle. Overnight in a hammock with a mosquito net.
Enjoy breakfast. After this we will clear the camp to begin trekking at 8 AM. At this time of the day, the sounds of the forest are at their best and you may hear the call of the great hornbill or singing of the gibbons.Trek through thick forest - descending into the valley where we will meet and follow the river.Enjoy lunch nearby the river. It is time for cooling off and relaxation.Trek along the river which passes through beautiful, old forest where we may see wildlife.Arrive at waterfall at about 3 PM. This is the site for the second night’s camp. Relax and swim in the waterfall. This waterfall has two tiers about 100m apart. The second has a deep pool.Prepare the camp for the night and prepare dinner. Overnight in a hammock with mosquito net
Wake up/breakfast/clear camp.Start trekking around 8 AM along the river. Head out of the remote jungle and returning to the village. Stop for lunch on route. There will be time for relaxation and taking of photosYou will arrive at the village about 4 PM. Meet the driver and transfer back to your hotel in Bangkok.
